Who handles it

In the City of Los Angeles, temporary street parking restrictions for moves are handled by the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT). The reservation is made with temporary No Parking signs posted on the block for your date and time.

Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Culver City, West Hollywood, Pasadena, Glendale, Burbank and Long Beach are separate cities with their own rules. If your address is in one of them, contact that city instead of LADOT.

Timing and cost

LADOT needs to hear from you at least five working days before the move. Requests are taken by phone on weekday mornings, 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

There is a non-refundable fee. LADOT gives the amount when you make the request; we don't repeat third-party fee estimates because they vary and go out of date.

Rules to plan around

Commercial trucks longer than 22 feet, or with a company logo, can't park overnight on City of LA streets and may be cited. With a 26-foot truck, plan to load and unload the same day.

Temporary signs reserve legal curb space; they don't make a red curb, hydrant zone or driveway usable.
